It is recently rumored that Taiwan shipping company Evergreen is planning to place an order for 10+10 14,000TEU containerships and is in enquiries with some shipyards.
According to some insiders, Evergreen officials are in negotiation with some Asian shipyards for the newbuilding or conversion plan. However, Evergreen CEO Zhang Rong and relevant officials have not confirmed this information.
Till now, Evergreen has ordered 20 8,800TEU containerships at Samsung and 10 units of same type at CSBC.
According to experts from Macquarie Research, at least 14,000TEU or bigger containerships is with greatest potential on Asia-Europe routes.
