Year-end S&P Activity to Continue
The S&P market of last week has been regularly low as the year towards end. In the week, totally 5 bulkers, 4 tankers and 4 other ships are understood to be changed handed. Greek buyers are still the great contributor in the secondhand market. Some European buyers also strike a pose in the market.
As for the representative transactions, a previously reported 171,995 dwt bulk carrier (2004 blt Hyundai) is rumored to have finally achieved US$ 31.5m to clients of Messrs Swiss Marine. A 71,969 dwt Panamax is reported to be sold to undisclosed buyers for US$ 15.6m. Meanwhile, a Handymax bulker (42,717 dwt 1997 blt IHI) is finalized with a Greek buyers at US$ 11.5m and a 29,063 dwt Handysize is reported sold to Romanian buyers at the very low price of US$ 5.7m.
On the other hand, tanker S+P market has remained fairly quiet; the world’s first double hull VLCC, 291,381 dwt VLCC AROSA is sold to Nathalin for US$ 23.5m.
On the product tanker side, a 63,589 dwt tanker is understood to be acquired by Sonomar at the firm price of US$ 36.25m; its worth noting that this Vessel was on subjects for an ENAP tender which we understand vessel was successful in winning.
