China's Yantai CIMC Raffles Shipyard has reportedly inked a new order for one subsea semi-submersible drilling platform with COSL Drilling Europe (CDE) in an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract.
If it is a firm contract, this would be CIMC Raffles' fourth newbuilding subsea semi-submersible rig ordered from CDE.
The platform is to be delivered in Q3 2014 and will operate in the North Sea and Barents Sea.
Meanwhile, the semi-submersible platform ordered at CIMC Raffles totals $215m-220m and National Oilwell Varco of the US seems to supply the core rig equipment for the platform.
