Maersk Tankers has purchased a very large crude carrier (VLCC) for USD53m from Malaysian shipping firm MISC Berhad (kul:MISC), maritime news source Lloyd's List reported last Friday.
The contract is for the five-year old Eagle Valencia tanker of 306,997 deadweight tonnes (dwt).
The deal is favourable for Maersk, as figures by the Baltic Exchange suggest a value of USD58.3m for a five-year old VLCC of 305,000 dwt, Lloyd's List said.
Maersk Tankers is part of Danish oil and shipping group AP Moller-Maersk A/S
