In the Capesize sector understood that the M/V KAMISU MARU (151,102 dwt 1994 blt Shin Kurushima) is sols to Korean buyers at US$ 15.5m.
A resale panamax blt in Penglai Jinglu is reported sold to Norsul; PENGLAI JINGLU 0026 (75,000 dwt 2011 blt) at US$ 31m.
The Japanese controlled handymax M/V WESTERN SANTIAGO (46,634 dwt 1997 blt Mitsui SB) is reported to have been sold last week. The vessel originally attracted a great amount of interest when Owners scheduled a round of inspections in China, with around 9 Buyers understood to have gone onboard. In the end, having invited offers, Owners committed the vessel at region US$ 14m to undisclosed interests. The price, which represents a further softening of asset values in the sector, is reflective of the vessel having her surveys coming up in April 2012.
Not much to report in the Tanker S+P sector; we understand that the Croatian owned M/T SALI (110,461 dwt 1994 blt 3 Maj) has been sold to Pakistan based buyers for US$ 11m which is close to her demolition value. On another sale, Tanker Pacific has sold the product carrier M/T PACIFIC OPAL (46,850 dwt 1993 blt Halla) for US$ 7.25m with drydocking due.
